Can you believe it’s June already? I don’t know about you, but I think this year is absolutely flying by, so much so that I actually started thinking about the dreaded ‘C’ word this week and have started designing some new bits for Christmas 2024! How bonkers is that? A lot has happened here at Sketch By Sam so far this year, so I wanted to fill you in and explain what this means for the future of my small business!
You may or may not have noticed that our online gift shop has been temporarily closed over the last month as we’ve been taking a little break. Well, I’ve actually been keeping a pretty big secret! Back in March I gave birth to my first baby, a little girl called Greta Pearl, she’s absolutely perfect and we couldn’t be more in love with her! For obvious reasons I decided to close my website for the first couple of months so that we could have a complete break from laser cutting and navigate the first few weeks of parenthood with no distractions.
Greta is already 2 months old (they really aren’t joking when they say they grow up fast!!) and we’re slowly settling into a little routine now, so I thought it was about time to re-open the website and dip my toes back in. The real fun starts now, juggling a newborn baby and a business, because nothing screams deadline like trying to cram a design session into a 40-minute nap or scheduling an Instagram post whilst you’re nap trapped! Greta even attended her first makers market this weekend whilst we made our debut appearance at the Good Things Market located in Hull.
So now to fill you in on what’s new at Sketch By Sam, aside from our latest team member of course! Firstly, before the new baby arrived, I designed a whole range of new name signs and obviously the samples feature Greta’s name so that I could decorate her nursery! Our new circle name plaques are available to order from our online gift shop, they can be personalised with a name of your choice, and they’re finished off with cute flowers which can be ordered in different colours depending on your colour scheme. I’ve also added a cool star version of this round wooden sign which is perfect for little boys bedrooms.
In addition to the new personalised name plaques, I’ve also designed a few other products which are perfect for newborn baby gifts, however it’s taking me much longer than normal to upload items to the website at the moment so watch this space for new stuff dropping on the website sporadically!
You may be wondering how this will affect your orders? The good news is that you shouldn’t notice any disruptions from your side. I’m planning to fit all of my designing and making around Greta and I’m very fortunate that I’ve got a super supportive husband and family that are always on hand to help!
