Transform Your Child's Artwork Into a Keepsake Gift | Plus Our Favourite Ways To Store Your Kid's Artwork

5 Simple Ideas for Displaying Your Kids Artwork

Have you ever been privileged enough to be proudly presented with a work of art from a little one? Whether it’s an abstract painting in the nicest shade of all-the-colours-mixed-together brown or that first family portrait with giant heads and teeny tiny bodies, it’s definitely a moment to cherish. Treasuring artwork created by your little one is just part of the parenting gig, but we know that it can quickly become overwhelming when they’re creating more drawings than you know what to do with! Here’s 5 quick ways to display kids artwork:
  1. Get a big scrapbook or sketch pad and stick the drawings and paintings into the book so that you can flick through it easily. You could create a book for each year but remember you don’t need to keep every drawing, select your favourites, and ditch the rest!
  2. Create an original gallery wall using all the best drawings. Find an area in your house and get a bunch of different sized frames, we recommend a trip to IKEA or a charity shop to collect the frames. It really is amazing how much better anything looks when it’s nicely framed and you can swap and change the artwork every few months to freshen the gallery wall up and show-off the new masterpieces.
  3. Put up a giant noticeboard in their bedroom so they can keep adding their latest creations. Whether it’s a corkboard, magnetic strip or an artwork washing line, these are all great ways to display your child’s artwork and inspire them to keep being creative.
  4. Scan a selection of their drawings and paintings and create your own collage. You can use a budget printing website such as Photobox to create a collage poster of their creations which will look great framed and displayed in your home. This is a great way of showcasing several of your child’s paintings in one simple but effective piece of artwork for your home.
  5. Transform your favourite piece of artwork into a keepsake wooden sign which can be treasured forever. Maybe it’s their first self-portrait or the first time they wrote their own name, whatever it is, we can laser cut their creation into wood and turn it into an elevated piece of artwork which is the perfect sentimental gift idea.

How We Transform Kids Drawings Into Wooden Signs

This year we have released a brand-new product which is the ultimate sentimental gift idea – the Wooden Artwork Sign. We can transform those simple sketches into showstopping signs and it’s the perfect way to preserve your child’s handwriting or artwork for years to come. Keep reading to see how we turn your doodles into a personalised piece of wall art, plus everything you need to know about how to order. The good news is, it’s super easy to order your child’s artwork wooden wall art and all we need to get started is a picture of your child’s drawing. When you place your order, you’ll be asked to upload your artwork; here are some guidelines for creating and sending the artwork in order to achieve the best results for your bespoke wooden artwork sign.

First things first, this style of engraved sign works best with line drawings rather than paintings. We recommend getting your child to do their drawing with a felt tip pen, biro or pencil to get the best results as the line is more crisp and easier for us to transform into an engraving. Here are some examples of different drawings turned into wooden signs. You can see that the painting loses a lot of detail and definition, therefore we recommend sticking to a single colour pen. If you’re unsure if your artwork is suitable, just contact us before placing your order and we can offer some advice.

Next you need to take a clear photo of the artwork/writing. It is best to take the picture in a brightly lit space so that there are no shadows cast onto the photo. You’ll get top marks if you can send us a scanned image of the artwork, but this isn’t necessary if you don’t have access to a scanner.
